20 Aug 2026dronesNight of 20 August: drones attacked the Taman 500 kV substation — the mainland node of the power bridge to occupied Crimea (Starotitarovskoye rural settlement, Temryuk district). The monitoring channel Crimean Wind reported a fire at the site, citing satellite imagery. At around 01:45 the Central, Western and Southern energy districts of Crimea lost power: Simferopol, Sevastopol, Kerch, Feodosia, Dzhankoi and Yevpatoria went dark, and in Simferopol trolleybuses stopped and traffic lights went out. RIA Novosti Crimea linked the outages to Ukrainian strikes on the republic's power supply facilities, but Russian officials did not mention the substation itself; in Sevastopol the restrictions were blamed on "network overload outside the region".
